Translating Lectures#
This page documents the workflow for translating lectures and other content on the website.
Translation Process#
Before beginning the translation, please ensure you have read the style guide and the relevant wiki page of the lecture repository.
During the translation process, please keep the following in mind:
Read through the original English version and check that the Chinese version is consistent with the original.
Note definitions, names, or terminologies that should have consistent translations across all lectures in the lecture’s glossary (e.g., Glossary for Chinese Version of Undergraduate Lecture Series).
Verify that graphs and their captions are translated correctly in the lecture. Information on translating graphs can be found on the wiki page of the lecture repository (e.g., Graph Translation for Chinese Version of Undergraduate Lecture Series).
Ensure that code comments are translated.
Address any language-specific issues in the translation, such as the use of Chinese characters in the code, word choice, or Chinese punctuation.
Open an issue in the lecture repository if you have suggestions that may benefit others and prompt discussion.
Consider improvements to the lecture content, such as adding explanations, examples, or exercises, or enhancing code efficiency and readability. Note these changes in the pull request (PR), and if they are accepted, synchronize the updates with the original English version.
Translation Review#
After completing the translation, please open a PR in the lecture repository. The PR will be reviewed by the maintainers.
If any improvements are suggested, the maintainers will leave comments on the PR. Please address these comments and push the updates to the PR. If no issues are found, the maintainers will merge the PR.
